The title says it all: A French Entrepreneur Tries Telecommuting From a Desert Island, Robinson Crusoe-Style. Just like I’ve been thinking — with some solar panels and satellite communications, you can work pretty much anywhere these days. Check out his blog (it’s in French, but Google will translate for you here). It is more fun viewing in French anyway — it makes it seem more far-away and you can pick up just enough to have some idea what’s going on.
I know that I will have a lot of time on my hands if I end up full-timing, particulalry during the winter when it gets dark early (full-timing has been gaining ground again recently, but that’s a subject for a future post), and had thought about putting that time to use by learning Spanish. I may add French to the list too. Maybe one day after I’ve seen more of this country I will travel somewhere where I can put those skills to the test (not to say that there’s not plenty of opportunities for speaking Spanish here in the U.S.A.)
Good luck to you, Gauthier!
